Dongyang, in central Zhejiang, is known for its woodcarving tradition and as the gateway to Hengdian World Studios, China's largest film set. The city itself is compact: a morning at the Dongyang Woodcarving Museum and a walk through the old town covers the core. Most travellers use it as a base for Hengdian or a stop between Yiwu and Jinhua.
