Dominical
Stay 2–3 nights if you surf or use it as a beach base; 1 night is enough if you only want the beach and a waterfall.
Dominical is a small surf town on the South Pacific coast, about 4 hours by car from San José via San Isidro. The beach and the Barú river mouth are the main draw, with surf lessons, waterfall hikes and whale watching nearby. It works as a base for Marino Ballena National Park and the Osa, or as a stop between Uvita and San Isidro.
