Diemen

Diemen is a small suburb of Amsterdam with easy tram, metro and train links. Its main draws are the Diemerbos forest, the artificial island Diemer Vijfhoek, a local theatre and a few cafés. One half‑day covers the highlights; longer stays are unnecessary unless you need a base outside Amsterdam.

Get around

Tram 19 (final stop Diemen Sniep) and metro lines 51/53/54 to Weesperplein, then tram. Two train stations (Diemen, Diemen Zuid) connect to Amersfoort. Biking from Amsterdam centre (≈7 km (4.3 mi)) is popular.
