Diamond Valley
Give Diamond Valley one night, or a half-day stop on the Cowboy Trail: 66 km from Calgary, 22 km west of Okotoks. Two nights only if you ride or hike.
Diamond Valley is Alberta's newest town, formed in 2023 when Black Diamond and Turner Valley merged across the Sheep River. It is a foothills stop, not a destination in itself: a gas-plant historic site, a distillery, a brewery, a gallery and horseback trails, all within 10 minutes of each other. Most visitors come from Calgary for a half day or one night on the way to Kananaskis.
