Dexter is a village of about 4,000 people on the Huron River, 15 minutes northwest of Ann Arbor between Ann Arbor and Chelsea on I-94. Its draw is small and seasonal: a downtown around the village green, the Dexter Cider Mill running since 1886, two metroparks on the river, and a handful of community events. Get around
You need a car. Downtown Dexter is walkable in 10 minutes end to end, but the cider mill, both metroparks, the trout farm and the orchards sit 5–15 min out on country roads with no useful bus. I-94 links Dexter to Ann Arbor and Chelsea; Dexter-Ann Arbor Road and Huron River Drive are the slower, prettier links to Ann Arbor.
