Daylesford is a spa and mineral-springs town 90 minutes northwest of Melbourne, in the hills of the Goldfields. The town centre is small and walkable, but the springs, bathhouses and wineries sit outside it, so a car changes the trip. Get around
The town centre is walkable in 10–15 minutes end to end, but it is steep in places. Sights outside town — Hepburn Springs, the wineries, Mount Franklin — need a car, bike or taxi; cycling is hard work on the hills. V/Line coaches from Ballarat, Castlemaine and Woodend stop once in Daylesford, so a car-free trip means taxis or tours for everything outside the centre.
