Darien
Darien, Connecticut
Skip Darien unless you live in Fairfield County or have a specific reason to visit: it's a residential town with no major sights, best as a quick stop on the Metro-North line between Stamford and Norwalk.
Darien is a wealthy commuter town on the Connecticut coast, 40 min by train from Grand Central. It has no tourist attractions beyond a few historic houses and churches. Most visitors pass through on the way to Stamford, Norwalk or New York. Half a day is enough to see the Pond-Weed House and walk the Post Road; there's no reason to stay overnight.
