Give Danyang two nights: one day for Gosu Cave and the river, one for Dodamsambong and the Jando trail. Skip it as a day trip from Seoul.
Danyang is a small inland resort town in North Chungcheong where the Namhangang River runs between Sobaeksan and Woraksan national parks. The old town was submerged under Chungju Lake in the 1980s, so today's grid is modern and compact. Sights are limestone caves, river viewpoints and short trails, spread along a valley that needs a bus or taxi to cover. Two nights is the useful minimum; one night works if you only want Gosu Cave and the riverfront.

- Some restaurants have no English menu and a few serve dog soup: ask before ordering if that matters to you.
- Cave and trail hours change by season; confirm the day's closing time at the tourist office.
