Damoh
Skip Damoh unless you are passing through on the Sagar–Jabalpur highway or the Katni–Sagour rail line: half a day for the fort and museum, then move on.
Damoh is a small city in eastern Madhya Pradesh, midway between Sagar and Jabalpur. It has a 17th-century fort, a small archaeology museum and a few temples, but nothing that justifies a detour. Most travellers use it as a lunch stop or a rail break on the way to Khajuraho, Orchha or Rewa.

Scams and watch-outs
- No ATMs may accept international cards reliably; carry enough cash from Sagar or Jabalpur.
- The fort is in partial ruin; watch your step on loose stones.
- Monsoon (Jul–Sep) can make the highway slow; check road conditions.
Damoh is generally safe. The main risks are heatstroke in summer, limited medical facilities and touts at the bus stand. Keep valuables out of sight.
