The honest verdict

Dakhla sits at the northern end of a long sand peninsula between the Atlantic and a large lagoon. The town is small and low: a port, a market, a bay-side promenade and a few streets of shops. The trips that go wrong assume that the kite camps and the beach are in town (they are not), fly in without a transfer, or wander off the paved road toward the desert. Four clusters cover the town in a day or two; the lagoon is a car or camp shuttle away.
