Stop one night if you are driving the Eyre Peninsula or catching the Lucky Bay ferry; otherwise skip — the silo art and a tidal pool are a half-day, not a trip.
Cowell is a small Spencer Gulf fishing town on the Lincoln Highway, about 100 km south of Whyalla and roughly 140 km north of Port Lincoln. It is known for three-pillar silo art, a jade deposit, a tidal swimming pool and the Lucky Bay ferry across to Wallaroo on Yorke Peninsula. Most travellers pass through in two to three hours; one night is enough if you want the ferry or a slow morning.
