Use Cowbridge as a half-day stop from Cardiff or Bridgend, not a base: 2–3 hours on the High Street, then move on.
Cowbridge is a small Vale of Glamorgan market town on the old Roman road between Cardiff and Bridgend, about 20–30 minutes by bus from either. The draw is one walkable High Street of independent shops, a physic garden, a medieval castle earthwork and a handful of pubs. It is a stop, not a destination: two to three hours covers it, and the Glamorgan Heritage Coast is the reason most people come this way.
