Cornucopia
Half-day stop on the Bayfield Peninsula: walk the harbor, see Lost Creek Falls, then move on. Not a base.
Cornucopia is a tiny Lake Superior town with a harbor, beaches and two waterfalls. Most visitors pass through in a few hours on the way between Superior and Ashland. One night is enough if you want a quiet evening by the lake.
