Corfe Castle is a village of grey Purbeck limestone built into a gap in the Purbeck Hills, with a Norman castle ruin above it that the National Trust runs. It is small: two streets, a square, a church, a handful of pubs and hotels. Most people see it in half a day from Swanage or Wareham; one night turns it into a quiet base for the Isle of Purbeck, the Jurassic Coast and the Swanage Railway.

The village is walkable in 10 minutes end to end. The castle is a 5–10 min uphill walk from the Square, on a rough path with steps.
