The Copperbelt is Zambia's mining heartland: a line of towns — Ndola, Kitwe, Chingola, Mufulira, Luanshya — built on copper, set in savanna woodland along the DR Congo border. Come for industrial heritage, city markets and a look at how modern Zambia earns its money, not for wildlife. One or two nights is enough; most travellers pass through Ndola on the way to or from the parks.

The dry season (May–September) is the easiest time to travel; the rains bring green country but muddy roads.
