Claresholm
Stop for 2–3 hours on the Highway 2 run between Calgary and Lethbridge: museum, water tower, Harvard memorial, then back on the road.
Claresholm is a town of about 3,800 on Highway 2, roughly an hour south of Calgary and an hour north of Lethbridge. It began as a Canadian Pacific Railway watering stop in 1891 and later hosted a British Commonwealth air training base. Today it is a fuel-and-coffee pause with a small museum, a 1910 water tower and a golf course. It is not a destination in itself; it is a leg-stretch on the way to somewhere else.
