Clarens
Two nights: one for the village galleries and walks, one for Golden Gate Highlands National Park. A day trip from Bloemfontein or Johannesburg is too rushed.
Clarens is a small sandstone village in the Free State, known as the 'Jewel of the Free State'. It is a base for Golden Gate Highlands National Park (17 km away) and a hub for artists, trout fishing, hiking and horse riding. Most visitors stay two nights: one for the village, one for the park.
