Churchill

Churchill is a town of about 870 people on Hudson Bay, reachable only by air or a two-day train. It is the main place to see wild polar bears in autumn and beluga whales in summer. Everything is expensive and capacity is tiny, so the trip is a booking problem first and a travel problem second.

Winter needs a real parka, insulated boots and goggles; cotton clothing is a bad idea.
The train can be delayed for days by weather or track damage: keep a buffer before an international flight.

The town is safe to walk in daylight, but polar bears are a real hazard from July to November: stay with a guide near the shore, keep streets lit at night, and report any bear to the patrol.
