Chittaranjan
চিত্তরঞ্জন
Half a day is enough for Chittaranjan: see the railway colony and the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works campus, then move on to Asansol or Durgapur.
Chittaranjan is a planned railway town in Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal, named after freedom fighter Chittaranjan Das. Its main draw is the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, one of India's largest locomotive factories, and the orderly green colony built for its workers. Most visitors pass through on the way to Asansol or the Chhota Nagpur plateau.
