Chinde
Skip Chinde unless you have a specific reason to visit a decaying port town with no services: one night is enough, and only if you arrange accommodation and food in advance.
Chinde is a former Sena Sugar Estates port town on the Zambezi delta, reachable only by boat. The civil war left its wide paved roads and brick buildings in disrepair. There are no restaurants, no shops with regular hours, and only one car (government-owned). The attraction is the eerie beauty of abandoned colonial structures — the library, church, generating house, and a water tower pillar — and rusting boats on the beach. This is for travellers who want an off-grid, decay-exploration experience, not a comfortable stop.
