Chikwawa

Use Chikwawa as a 1-night stop for Majete Wildlife Reserve access, not a base: the town itself has limited sights.

Chikwawa is a small town in southern Malawi, 50 km south of Blantyre on the M1 road. Its main draw is Majete Wildlife Reserve, a Big Five park an hour away. Most travellers stay one night at a lodge near the park or pass through on the way to the Lower Shire Valley.
