Chichiriviche
One full day for the cays of Morrocoy National Park; skip the town beaches. Arrive early, leave by late afternoon unless you stay overnight.
Chichiriviche is the main gateway to Morrocoy National Park, with boat trips to half a dozen cays. The town itself is small and its beaches are dirty; the draw is the offshore islands — Cayo Muerto, Cayo Sal, Cayo Sombrero — with white sand, coral and flamingos in the Golfete de Cuare. Most visitors come from nearby cities for a day trip; a single night is enough to catch the early boat and avoid the weekend crowds.

- Town beaches are dirty; go straight to the cays.
- Weekends are very crowded and littered; book accommodation and boat trips in advance.
- Unofficial boat hawkers may offer lower prices but check safety equipment.
- Most posadas do not include breakfast; bakeries on the main street open around 08:00.
Chichiriviche is generally safe for tourists during the day, but avoid walking alone at night. The main risks are petty theft and unreliable emergency services (911 response is check).
