Cheyyar
செய்யாறு
Cheyyar is a half-day stop for its two ancient Shiva temples, not a base: visit on the way between Chennai and Tiruvannamalai or Pondicherry.
Cheyyar (also called Tiruvetipuram) is a small temple town in Northern Tamil Nadu, 160 km south of Chennai. Its draw is the Vedapureeswarar Temple, one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, and the Patcheeswarar Temple in the town centre. Most travellers pass through on the Chennai–Tiruvannamalai road; the town itself has no other major sights and limited accommodation.
