Cheonan sits 83.6 km south of Seoul and works as a transport hub rather than a sightseeing base: KTX from Seoul takes 35–40 min to Cheonan-Asan station, and Seoul Subway Line 1 links it to Suwon and Seoul. The main draws — Independence Hall of Korea, Gakwonsa temple on Taejosan, Byeongcheon sundae street — sit outside the centre and need a bus or taxi. Most trips use it for a single night between Seoul and the south, or as a half-day stop.
