Chattanooga sits on the Tennessee River where I-75 and I-24 meet, about 2 h from Atlanta and 1 h 40 min from Knoxville. The big draws — Rock City, Ruby Falls and the Incline Railway — are all on Lookout Mountain, 6 miles from downtown, so a car or a rideshare changes the day. Downtown itself is compact and walkable: the Tennessee Aquarium, the Walnut Street Bridge and the riverfront are within 15 minutes on foot. Downtown is walkable and CARTA runs a free electric shuttle between the Choo Choo area and the Tennessee Aquarium, with service on to the North Shore and Coolidge Park. For Rock City, Ruby Falls and the Incline Railway you need a car, a rideshare or a tour: they sit on Lookout Mountain, about 6 miles from downtown. Rental desks are at the airport.
