Channarayapatna
Use Channarayapatna as a base for Shravanabelagola (13 km) and other Hoysala temples: one night is enough for the town itself, two if you add Belur and Halebidu.
Channarayapatna is a transport hub at the junction of NH 48 and six state highways in Karnataka's Hassan district. The town itself has a handful of temples and parks, but its real draw is proximity to Shravanabelagola (13 km), Belur (check), Halebidu (check) and other Hoysala-era sites. Most visitors pass through on a day trip from Hassan or Mysore; staying one night lets you see the main sights without rush.
