Chandler is a 240,000-person suburb southeast of Phoenix, about 25 minutes from Sky Harbor airport. It is a car city: a compact historic downtown with breweries and a jazz festival, a large mall, a casino and resort on the Gila River Indian Community, and a lot of the metro's tech jobs. Two nights covers it if you are already in the Valley; most visitors see it as a half-day or an evening out.

A car is the practical default: the metro is spread out and summer heat makes walking unpleasant.
