Spend 1–2 days in Chaitén: one day for the volcano trail and town, a second day for a park or lake excursion.

Chaitén is a small hub on the Carretera Austral with access to Volcán Chaitén, Parque Pumalín and Lago Yelcho. A single day covers the volcano walk and town sights; an extra day lets you explore the park or lake. Transport links are limited, so plan around ferry and bus schedules.
