This is the stretch of coast and wadi country between Muscat and Duqm: the Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Shab, Wadi Tiwi, Wadi Bani Khalid, the turtle beach at Ras al-Jinz and the old port of Qalhat. Almost nobody sleeps here for a week. Drive it as a two- to three-night leg of the coastal road, with Sur as the base, or skip it and fly to Duqm if you are heading south.
