The honest verdict
Castries is a working harbour town with a busy market, a cathedral and hill forts; few visitors stay here more than a night or two. What goes wrong is the transfer: the long drive from Hewanorra, steep hill roads, Sunday closures and cruise-day crowds. Four areas cover the capital; the Pitons and the beaches are trips from one kept bed.
