Cashel is a small Tipperary town built around one sight: the Rock of Cashel, a limestone outcrop with a round tower, a 12th-century chapel and a Gothic cathedral, plus Hore Abbey in the fields below. The town itself is a compact Main Street of pubs and B&Bs. Most visitors pass through in two hours; one night lets you see the Rock without the coaches and eat and drink on Main Street.

- Athassel Priory has parking for about 3 cars and a field wall to cross; check access before you go.
- Rural bus services are few; check the last return bus before you set out.
Cashel is a small, safe town; the real risks are uneven ground at the Rock and Hore Abbey, livestock in the abbey field, and narrow roads with no footpath if you walk to Golden.
