Cary is a fast-growing Research Triangle suburb west of Raleigh, about 13 km from Raleigh-Durham International (RDU). It has a small, walkable downtown core with a brewery, a bakery and an arts centre, plus greenway trails and two pro soccer teams. Most visitors sleep here for airport access or use it as a half-day between Raleigh and Chapel Hill. Without a car it is thin; with one it is easy.

Cary is spread out and best done by car; downtown itself is walkable. GoCary runs local buses (lines 1 and 2 are loops, 3–6 end at the train station) and GoTriangle links Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Amtrak's Piedmont/Carolinian and Silver Service stop at 211 N Academy St.
