Carson City is Nevada's capital, a small city of about 55,000 at the foot of the Sierra, 30 miles south of Reno and about 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe's south shore. Downtown and the West Side are walkable; the Kit Carson Trail is marked by a blue line and bronze medallions on the pavement.
