Carmarthenshire is rural south-west Wales: castle ruins, a long flat coast and market towns, with no single hub. Carmarthen is the transport centre and the only base where trains and buses cover more than one direction. Llandeilo sits under the Black Mountain and suits drivers. Llanelli and Burry Port give you the coast and the millennium path. Two nights is enough for the castles and the coast; three if you want the national botanic garden and a hill day.
