Cape Canaveral is a small barrier-island city at the north end of the Space Coast, wrapped around Port Canaveral and next to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. It is a launch-viewing and cruise-ship town more than a sightseeing town: Jetty Park, the free Sands Space History Center and the waterfront seafood strip do most of the work. Get around
A car is the practical choice: the island is compact but spread out, and the causeway (FL-528 to FL-A1A/Astronaut Blvd) is how you reach everything. Space Coast Area Transit route 9 runs the length of Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach along FL-A1A — cheap, but slow and infrequent, so plan around it. Ride-share and taxis work for port transfers.
