Canora
Stop for 2–4 hours off the train or Highway 5/9 junction: two small museums, a 7.6 m welcome statue and a Ukrainian church. Not a base.
Canora is a town of about 2,200 people in east central Saskatchewan, founded in 1905 on the Canadian Northern Railway — the name takes the first two letters of Canadian, Northern and Railway. It sits at the junction of Highways 5 and 9, 50 km north of Yorkton. VIA Rail's Winnipeg–Churchill train calls twice weekly in each direction, which makes it a genuine leg-stretch stop rather than a detour. The draw is compact and specific: Ukrainian settlement heritage from the 1897 block settlement, two small Main Street museums, and Good Spirit Lake 35 km southwest for a beach day.
