Camrose is a city of about 19,000 in the aspen parkland of central Alberta, roughly 90 km southeast of Edmonton on Highway 13. It grew as a railway town and farming centre, and today it is a quiet stop with a compact downtown, a lake in the middle of town and a handful of small museums. It is not a destination in itself for most travellers: it works as one night on a prairie drive, or as a base if you are here for the Big Valley Jamboree in early August.
