Campo Grande

Campo Grande is the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul and the practical gateway to the southern Pantanal and to Bonito, about 300 km away. Most travellers pass through for one or two nights, using it for flights, buses and food rather than sightseeing. It is a cattle-country city of about 875,000 people, known locally as the cidade morena for its dark red soil, and it eats better than its size suggests.

Get around
