Cambodia has two airports that matter to visitors. Siem Reap–Angkor International (SAI) replaced the old Siem Reap airport and handles the Angkor traffic; it is roughly 40 km from Siem Reap town, so the drive is 45–75 minutes depending on traffic and your hotel's side of town. Techo International (KTI) opened in September 2025 as Phnom Penh's new airport, about 30–40 km south of the centre — noticeably further out than the old city airport, so allow more time and check current transfer options before you land.
Smaller airports at Sihanoukville and Battambang see limited or no scheduled international service. If your plan is the coast, the usual route is a flight or bus into Phnom Penh and then onward by road or the Royal Railway line toward Kampot and Sihanoukville.
For the airport-to-city leg, options are a metered or fixed-price taxi, a pre-booked hotel pickup, or a tuk-tuk for short hops. At SAI a taxi to Siem Reap town is the default; at KTI the distance makes a car the sensible choice. Ride-hailing apps work in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap but coverage at the new airports can be thin — arrange a pickup or use the official taxi desk.
Onward travel: both airports feed the same bus network. Express buses and minivans between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh take 5–6 hours and cost US$10–18; day buses are the safer choice. Book the airport transfer with your hotel if you land late; the new airports are far enough out that a tired arrival at midnight is not the moment to negotiate.
