Calella de Palafrugell
Stay 2 nights, no car needed: base in the village, walk the Camí de Ronda to Llafranc (25 min) and swim before 10:00. Skip in Jul–Aug if you want quiet.
Calella de Palafrugell is a small fishing village on the Costa Brava, in the municipality of Palafrugell, with around 700 residents and a handful of coves instead of big hotels. Two nights covers the village, the coastal path to Llafranc and Cap Roig gardens. It is a base for walking and swimming, not for sightseeing by car.

Get around
On foot. The village is small and the Camí de Ronda links the coves and Llafranc; the GR-92 long-distance path crosses the town. Buses (SARFA/Moventis) connect Palafrugell with Barcelona, Girona and Caldes de Malavella; there is no train station in Calella. A car helps for Cap Roig, Pals and Begur, but park at the edge and walk in.

Scams and watch-outs
- No train station: the nearest are Caldes de Malavella (about 35 km) and Girona (about 47 km), then bus.
- Parking fines are issued fast, including weekends; use the marked lots on Carrer del Port Pelegrí, Avinguda del Mar or Avinguda de la Costa de la Luz.
- Coves are small and fill by mid-morning in summer; El Golfet and Sant Roc have no services.
- Many restaurants and hotels close from November to March: check before booking a winter trip.
- The Camí de Ronda has repeated steep ups and downs; not a flat promenade.
Very safe for a beach village: the real risks are strong currents and rocky entries at the smaller coves, sunburn on the coastal path, and pickpocketing only in the busiest summer weeks. Spain's emergency number is 112.
