Butogota
Use Butogota as the gateway to Bwindi's gorilla treks: sleep 1–2 nights here, not inside the park. The town itself is a trade stop, not a destination.
Butogota is a small trading centre in Kanungu district, western Uganda, about 450 km from Kampala. It has become the preferred gateway for travellers heading to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to half the world's mountain gorillas. The town itself offers little beyond basic services, but its location makes it a practical base for gorilla trekking.
