Burnham Market is a small inland village of about 700 people, 8 km from the North Norfolk coast, with 30-plus independent shops, a green, a butcher, a baker and a fish shop. It has no beach and no railway station. People come for the shopping and the food, then drive or take the bus to the coast. One night covers the village; two nights let you add a full beach day and Holkham or Brancaster.

Get around
The village is flat and small: walk it in 10 minutes end to end, though some footpaths are narrow. For the coast you need a car, a bike or the bus. Lynx Coastliner 36 stops at The Green and runs to King's Lynn, Hunstanton, Brancaster, Burnham Overy Staithe, Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Fakenham; Sanders 26 runs weekdays to North and South Creake and Fakenham. Evening and night buses are few. National Cycle Route 1 passes through the village.
