Burley
Base here 1 night if you want New Forest ponies at the door; 2 nights if you cycle or walk. A car or the seasonal tour bus is the only easy way in.
Burley is a small New Forest village of about 1,400 people, 6 km south-east of Ringwood and 4 km south of the A31. Ponies and cattle graze the open Forest around the streets, and the village trades on a long witch and folklore connection. It is a base for walking, cycling and heathland, not a sightseeing town: the village centre is 15 minutes on foot end to end.

Get around
