Bundanoon
Give Bundanoon one night, or a day trip from Bowral or Sydney: the village is a 20-minute walk end to end and the national park is the reason to come.
Bundanoon is a small Southern Highlands village of about 2,900 people on the Sydney–Canberra rail line, with a café strip, a historic pub and the escarpment lookouts of Morton National Park about 5 km out of town. Most travellers pass through for half a day or sleep one night; two nights only if you want a full bushwalk and the glow worms after dark.

The Morton National Park entrance is about 1.5 km from the station, and the lookouts a further 4 km or so; bikes can be hired in town and carried free on the train.
