Bucerias is a Pacific beach town of about 16,000 people on Bahia de Banderas, roughly 18 km northwest of Puerto Vallarta airport. It has a long walkable beach, cobblestone streets, a small plaza and two distinct halves split by an arroyo. It is a base for the coast, not a sightseeing city: three nights covers the beach, the food and one day trip.

Get around
The centre is walkable; the arroyo footbridge (Puente del Beso) links El Centro and Zona Dorada. Regional buses run constantly along MEX-200 for about M$10–22 and take you to Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita and the airport side. Taxis inside town run about M$60–100; agree the price first. Uber covers the region.

Scams and watch-outs
- Cash is still king: some beachfront places take no cards, and some give a better cash rate. Use ATMs in the village.
- Cross MEX-200 only at the marked crossings and the elevated walkway near the airport; traffic does not slow for pedestrians.
- Summer heat and humidity are real; plan beach time before 11:00 and after 16:00.
- Riptides and surf can be strong on open stretches of beach: swim near other people, not alone.
Bucerias is a small, busy beach town and feels safe by day and evening in the centre. The real risks are traffic on MEX-200, strong surf, heat in summer and cash-only bars with no posted prices: ask the total before you order.
