Weather by region
The coast and capital — Bandar Seri Begawan, Muara, Tutong, Seria — run hot and humid all year at around 32 °C, with the heaviest rain from November to January and afternoon storms possible in any month. February to August is the most comfortable stretch for walking the capital, the water village and the night markets.
The Temburong rainforest around Bangar and Ulu Temburong is wetter and more seasonal in practice, because river levels decide whether longboats run. February to August is the best window; September and October are workable; November to January is the wettest and the most likely to disrupt a canopy walk booking.

Holidays that change your trip
Two periods reshape a Brunei visit more than the weather does. Ramadan, which in 2026 is expected around February–March (check), means no eating or drinking in public during daylight, shorter business hours and restaurants busy at dusk. Hari Raya Aidilfitri follows, with several days of holidays and the Istana Nurul Iman open house in the first days (check).
The fixed dates are easier to plan around. National Day on 23 February brings a parade and road closures in Bandar Seri Begawan. The Sultan's birthday on 15 July fills the capital with celebrations and lights, again with road closures. Christmas on 25 December is a public holiday but public celebration is restricted, so keep it low-key.
If you want the capital at its liveliest, aim for February or July and accept medium crowds and prices. If you want quiet streets and the lowest rates, April to June and September to October are the calmest windows.

Brunei is a low-volume destination, so there is no high-season crush to dodge. Prices track the calendar loosely: February and July, when National Day and the Sultan's birthday pull in visitors, are the medium-price months. The rest of the year sits at low-season pricing, including the wet months.
That means the cheapest time to visit is not a trade-off against good weather. April to June is both low-price and one of the better weather windows, which makes it the strongest value pick. November to January is equally cheap but you are paying in cancelled boat trips rather than in cash.

Practical notes for any month
Pack for heat and rain at the same time: light clothing, a compact umbrella or shell, and shoes that cope with wet pavements. Brunei is a Muslim country with a stricter dress code than its neighbours, so shoulders and knees covered is the safer default in public buildings and mosques.
Alcohol is not sold in Brunei, so plan evenings around food, markets and the water village rather than bars. Friday is a shortened working day in many places, and some businesses close for part of it. During Ramadan, avoid eating, drinking or smoking in public during daylight hours.
