Brossard
Base here only if you want cheap parking and a 15-min REM ride into Montréal; otherwise sleep in Montréal and treat Brossard as a shopping stop.
Brossard is the commercial hub of Montréal's South Shore: Quartier DIX30, Champlain Mall and a long strip of big-box stores along Taschereau Boulevard. It has almost no old-town sightseeing. Its real value is as a car-friendly, lower-cost base with a direct REM metro line into downtown Montréal, plus 50 km of bike paths and riverfront parks.

Get around
The REM light-rail line runs from Brossard (Panama and Du Quartier stations) to downtown Montréal in about 15–20 minutes; check the current fare zones and schedule. Local buses cover Taschereau and the malls. Between the malls, the car dealership strip and the riverfront, distances are long and sidewalks are patchy: a car or bike is far more practical than walking.

Brossard is a low-crime suburban city and safe for tourists day and night. The real risks are traffic on Taschereau Boulevard, winter ice, and leaving valuables visible in a parked car.
