Brookmans Park
Skip as a base: no hotels, one 36-hectare wood and a pub. Come only as a half-day stop from Hatfield or Potters Bar, or to sleep in nearby towns.
Brookmans Park is a Green Belt dormitory village in Hertfordshire, about 14 miles north of London, built up around a railway station that opened in 1926. It has no hotels and few sights: a mock-medieval arch, a wildlife wood and a village green with shops and pubs. Treat it as a short stop on the Great Northern line between London and Hatfield, not a destination in its own right.
