Give it 1–2 nights as a coast stop between Gold Beach and Crescent City: beaches, redwoods and the Chetco River, not a big-city base.
Brookings-Harbor is the last town on the Oregon Coast before California, 8 km from the state line on US-101. It is a small harbour town of about 5,400 people with clean beaches, a working boat basin, redwood country inland and the Chetco River. Most travellers pass through on a coastal road trip; one or two nights is enough to see the beaches, the harbour and Loeb State Park.

Get around
US-101 (Chetco Avenue in town) is the only road through, so a car is the practical way to reach beaches, the river and the redwoods. In town, the strip, library, pool and parks are close enough to walk. Intercity buses stop near US-101 and 5th Street.
