Brockville is a small St. Lawrence River city between Kingston and Cornwall, about 50 minutes east of Kingston by car and roughly two hours west of Montreal. It calls itself the City of the Thousand Islands. The draw is compact: a free walk-through railway tunnel under City Hall, a waterfront, a Victorian main street and a 1901 senator's mansion. Most travellers see it in an afternoon and sleep one night, or use it as a rail stop on the Toronto-Montreal or Toronto-Ottawa VIA line.
